Super B12 | Methylcobalamin + Hydroxocobalamin

Why Should I Take Super B12?

Super B12 is a novel formulation of two of the highest bioavailability forms of vitamin B12, hydroxocobalamin and methylcobalamin. These are then packaged into a tasty quick dissolve tablet, allowing for easy and convenient dosing. If you are looking for a B12 product that you can actually feel, then this is the one!

If you are a vegan, vegetarian or simply someone who only occasionally eats small amounts of meat, then there is a good chance you are somewhat deficient in B12 as plant sources provide very little if any B12. This makes our high bioavailability super B12 quick dissolve tablets a fantastic supplement for vegans and vegetarians!

Another benefit of these tablets is that they quickly dissolve in your mouth, allowing you to take advantage of much quicker absorption. This also makes the super B12 quick dissolve tablets a great option if you need a subtle yet rapid energy boost!

What is Super B12?

Before we get into this supplement in particular, let’s talk about what a vitamin is in the first place. Vitamins are organic compounds that the body needs but can’t make itself, thus, we are reliant on our diet for vitamins. This is especially tricky for vegans and vegetarians because the main dietary source of vitamin B12 is from meat. This is one of the reasons why B12 in particular is a very common vitamin that is supplemented, because getting enough, even as a meat eater, can prove to be challenging. This is where Super B12, our unique vitamin B12 formulation using the best forms of B12 available, can lend a helping hand!

Vitamin B12 exists in multiple different forms, these are:

  • Cyanocobalamin
  • Methylcobalamin
  • Hydroxocobalamin
  • Adenosylcobalamin

The first form of B12, cyanocobalamin, is the most common form found in supplements. This is primarily because it is the cheapest form of B12, not the most bioactive. In fact, cyanocobalamin has pretty paltry bioavailability, which means that it is not an ideal vitamin B12 supplement. Methylcobalamin on the other hand, whilst much more expensive than cyanocobalamin, is one of the most bioavailable forms of vitamin B12. Hydroxycobalamin appears to be even a step up from methylcobalamin in terms of bioavailability, however, it is even more expensive than methylcobalamin so it is barely ever seen in supplements. The last form, adenosylcobalamin is a very interesting case, it doesn’t seem particularly better than any of the other forms of B12, yet commands an even higher price.

Taking all of this into account, we set out to make our ideal version of a vitamin B12 supplement. For this, we decided to go with both methylcobalamin and hydroxocobalamin in a 50:50 ratio, which means you are getting the two most bioavailable forms of B12 in a single quick dissolve tablet!

Super B12 Benefits & Uses

    • Promotes vitamin B12 status
    • Enhances energy levels
    • Regulates the methylation cycle

The Benefits of High Bioavailability vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 deficiencies, while not common in meat eaters, are very commonly seen in vegans and vegetarians. In addition to this, if you are a meat eater, but you only consume small amounts of meat here and there, there is also a good chance your vitamin B12 status is on the lower end. With this in mind, one of the primary goals with super B12, was to help enhance vitamin B12 status. This is why we went for a relatively high dose of 1 mg, and used two highly bioavailable forms.

So, let’s say you are a vegan or vegetarian, and you have low vitamin B12 status, then what can you expect to feel when supplementing with vitamin B12? One thing you will likely notice fairly quickly, is a pleasant increase in general energy levels. In addition to this, it may also be easier to focus and your mood may be a little bit brighter!

Vitamin B12 also produces lots of effects that aren’t very perceptible, but are extremely important for our health. When vitamin B12 status is low, our methylation cycle will also be slightly out of whack and this may cause an increase in homocysteine levels. High levels of homocysteine can produce lots of negative effects, so keeping its levels under control is of utmost importance. By enhancing the function of the methylation cycle, homocysteine levels can be reduced. This is interesting in the case of vitamin B12, because it is a methyl donor and plays a direct role in the methylation cycle. In fact, vitamin B12 supplementation has indeed been shown to help reduce homocysteine levels, which may help support cardiovascular function!
